GLASKU

This unique process is the combination of Hot Glass with Hot Raku Pottery. I began developing Glasku in 2005. This work is published in Steven Branfman’s latest book Mastering Raku (Lark books 2009). My study of this new innovative art form has evolved into working with primitive crucible inspired vessels.

My fascination continues to the thoughts behind the ancient clay and fire workers...How did they know to refine their clay and melt metals? When did the clay melt to diverge and become glass?

I work with a variety of modified and custom porcelains, clays and glazes. The pieces are crazed or fractured similarly to the crackle aesthetic in Raku.
